Antique Mahogany Stacking Barrister Bookcase by Udell Works. There are three glass front bookcase sections a base and a top cap. These are selling online for $1200 on up as shown. This one measures 34 inches wide 12 inches deep and 45 inches tall. Two of The bookcase sections are 11 inches tall and one is 13 inches tall. Excellent versatile piece it can be stacked on any order and use any combination of the sections. Dating back to the early 20th century (circa 1915–1920), this style is commonly referred to as a lawyers bookcase. It features a modular, interlocking design where individual shelf units stack neatly on top of a footed base and are capped off with a top crown molding piece. Each tier has a characteristic glass door mechanism that lifts upward and slides smoothly back into the cabinet to protect books from dust. Udell Works pieces from this era were typically built out of quality woods like solid birch, oak, or mahogany.
