Each handset takes 2 typical AAA rechargeable batteries, not a weirdo kind of battery. Batteries included. You can see all the handsets powered on in the pictures. I let the phones sit in standby mode for at least 2-3 days to make sure the batteries last that long. I am 60+/Retired. This phone sits on my desk 5 out of 7 days a week. When I do use it, it is carried in my pocket for about 1/2 a day and I take pictures and call home.
