Height: 29 inches Width: 39 inches Depth: 27 inches Seat Height: 14 inches Yes, this is an actual 1940s Herman Miller piece! This was designed by Gilbert Rohde, who basically was the most influential part of the Herman Miller company being a huge part of the mid-century modern era from the late 1930s all the way up through the 1970s. Notice how wide the oval seat on this cool chair is. It can easily sit two people. That’s basically like a swanky version of a loveseat. And the long stretched wing back is actually held up by the extended legs of the chair. Super cool concept. This is an authentic early 1940s piece. It does have the original velvet upholstery which is kind of like a darker canary-yellow. No rips or tears in the upholstery at all. No stains either. And it also does NOT smell like cigarette smoke. You will never find an original Gilbert Rohde slipper chair with the original upholstery. Any of these that you’ll find online or in a high-end vintage store has been salvaged and reupholstered. This is the only one that you’ll find that’s all original and untampered with. And it is still very sturdy. This chair was built like a tank. These authentic Gilbert Rohde slipper chairs, sell online anywhere from $3,200 all the way up to $9,500 just for one of them! Keep in mind this is an original piece that has not been reupholstered.
