1920S SLIGH FURNITURE COMPANY DRESSER WITH MIRROR. DRESSER IS VERY SOLID BUT MIRROR FRAME IS BROKEN. *****************************************The Sligh Furniture Company was established in 1880 by Charles R. Sligh in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Historically renowned for high-quality wooden case goods, dressers, and bedroom suites, the brands early pieces were even owned by U.S. Presidents Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harrison. History & Background • Founding & Location: Founded in 1880 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which was a major American furniture-making hub. • Materials & Styles: Produced dressers, chiffoniers, and matching bedroom suites using mahogany, walnut (including Circassian walnut), maple, curly birch, and oak. Later mid-century lines included the popular Cross Country series. • Company Timeline: The original company closed in 1932 due to the Great Depression. The brand name was later revived and acquired, and modern Sligh furniture is owned by Lexington Home Brands. • Identification: Authentic vintage Sligh dressers typically feature a stamped or paper makers mark reading SLIGH Furniture Co. Grand Rapids located inside the top-right drawer. You can read more about the companys background via Furniture City History.
