Matching pair of circa-1950s–1960s barrel-back club chairs with sculptural curved backs, sloping arms, and original dusty rose velvet upholstery. A distinctive pair of traditional English-inspired chairs with excellent potential for custom reupholstery. What sets these chairs apart is their construction and detailing. The straight, tapered wooden front legs contrast with dramatically outward-curving saber-style rear legs, each finished with brass ferrules and original ball casters. These shaped wooden legs and coordinated hardware are details associated with traditionally styled, higher-quality upholstered furniture. Unlike inexpensive contemporary accent chairs, these were designed with substantial wooden frames, individually shaped legs, and decorative metal hardware. Their classic proportions and distinctive construction make them particularly worthwhile candidates for reupholstery. FEATURES * Matching pair, circa 1950s–1960s * Sculptural barrel backs with integrated sloping arms * Traditional English-inspired design * Original dusty rose velvet upholstery * Straight, tapered wooden front legs * Distinctive outward-curving saber-style rear legs * Brass ferrules and original ball casters on all four legs * Substantial wood-framed construction * Compact proportions suitable for a living room, library, bedroom, or fireside arrangement * Excellent candidates for custom upholstery CONDITION These chairs are being sold as an upholstery project. The original velvet shows age and wear, the seat cushioning has softened, and one chair has deteriorated underside support material, shown in photos. Upholstery work and potentially repairs to the underlying seat support should be anticipated. The original wooden legs and brass hardware remain, providing an excellent foundation for restoration. DIMENSIONS — EACH * Overall height: 30” * Overall depth: 24” * Seat height: 17.5”
