Oushak carpets are Turkish carpets that use a particular family of designs, called by convention after the city of Usak, Turkey – one of the larger towns in Western Anatolia, which was a major center of rug production from the early days of the Ottoman Empire, into the early 20th century. Historically, Oushaks were classified as ‘Anatolian Rugs,’ Anatolian literally translating to ‘land of the rising sun.’ Today scholars know much more about Oushaks and are able to classify them as such. Anatolian is used as a last resort when a more specific identification cannot be found, at which point ‘Anatolian’ refers to a carpet made in Turkey. The level of international popularity attained by Oushak carpets became such that the word Oushak is considered an English word of Turkic origin. Oushak rugs are some of the finest Oriental Rugs, so much so that many of the masterpieces of the 15th and 16th centuries have been attributed to Oushak. The popular star and medallion carpets originated in Oushak. Oushak rugs are known for the silky, luminous wool they work with. The dyes tend towards cinnamons, terracotta tints, gold, blues, greens, ivory, saffron and grays. The late 19th century saw the rejuvenation of Oriental rug production, at this time Oushak re-surfaced as a preeminent center of weaving industry. The new Oushak industry saw two major shifts in design: floral patterns in the Persian tradition were incorporated into design and room size, decorative carpets were woven as European standards demanded.

French style Aubusson rug was hand knotted in China of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. The rug has very thick wool piles and is in like new condition. Beautiful colors and made with excellent quality. No holes or repairs, plush and soft with a gorgeous design. This rug was acquired from an established rug merchant and it has a retail price tag of $3,895.00 from the department store chain Woodward and Lothrop. Cleaned and ready to be enjoyed. FLAT RATE SHIPPING OF $300.00 FOR THIS RUG WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Please see all of our rugs and other items at www.rug-auction.com. French style Aubusson rugs are among the most lavish Oriental rugs in the market. The word Aubusson has become synonymous with a flat-woven French carpet renowned for their elegant, flowing floral patterns. It is this foliate pattern that makes these striking pieces not only an elegant addition to any room but extremely sought after. Now made in China and India, they are hand made in silk and wool, in the old French style. Rugs as fine as the finest Asian rugs allow for the most astonishing shading and detail. Aubusson rugs are expensive because of being handmade but are durable enough to use and enjoy daily. Owning an Aubusson rug remains a symbol of prestige and sophistication. Aubusson rugs are made of wool, silk or a blend of the two. Regular vacuuming without a beater brush will keep an Aubusson rug from deteriorating over time. Stains should always be addressed immediately. Sadly, these unique rugs are a dying breed and becoming increasingly hard to source.

Vintage, 1970s or 1980s The Juicer Graniteware enameled metal steam juice maker by General Housewares Corp. The juicer is a total of apx 12.5 tall, 13 wide, exclusive of the handles and 15 wide inclusive of the handles. The fruit section capacity is apx 12 in diameter and 4.75 in depth, and it holds a good amount of fruit (apx 37 cups or 2 1/3 gallons). I often add more fruit as it cooks down a bit. It is a very sturdy juicer. The juicer does have some enamel loss and light rust, but not where the fruit or juice touches, just mostly on the outside and bottom water bason. This is a great juicer for making all kinds of steamed fruit juice. My favorites are cherry, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. I dont even wash my fruit, as the steam process cooks the fruit. I dont even remove the stems or pits from the cherries before steaming. You put water in the bottom bason, add the tier for catching the juice, then the section that holds and strains the fruit, then the lids. Turn on the stove and you will soon have ready-to-drink (hot) juice. Super simple. I use a bag in the section that holds the fruit for fruits with seeds so they dont slip through and get in the juice. When I juice blueberries, I save the pulp to make blueberry bread. **Pitcher and fruit bag shown are not included in the purchase. CASH ONLY NO ONLINE PAYMENTS Please see photos for best description of the condition. To see my other listings, please type swest into the search bar.
