The cellphone is Locked to Tracfone (Verizon) system which means you have to have a Tracfone account to activate the phone. Also, you either have to have a sixty days, ninety days, or annual service plan or have to have a monthly plan to use the phone. There is no contract to sign (Pay as you go.)
