Vintage Artisan Dovetail Fine Wood Trunk Chest Hand-Crafted Wood Work Rustic Coffee Table Eclectic Maximalist Cabin Beautiful, custom-built vintage wooden trunk, likely crafted by a skilled hobbyist in the 1950s or 60s. This piece has a fantastic two-tone look and works perfectly as a unique coffee table or a sturdy blanket chest at the foot of a bed. Details and Materials: * Wood Type: Built with a striking contrast of woods. The main body features warm, amber Douglas fir (or high-grade pine), framed by a darker hardwood (likely walnut or oak) on the trim and base. * Craftsmanship: Features beautiful hand-cut exposed dovetail joints on the corners. * Hardware: Heavy-duty, flush-mounted brass corner guards add great mid-century character and durability. Condition and Usage: This is a beautiful, custom homemade piece, and while it is of very good quality, it may not be best suited for constant opening and closing. There was a split in the wood where the hinges attach, but it has been glued, which should leave it as strong as the original wood. Even so, it will benefit from gentle treatment. Also has a crack on the side towards the bottom that I glued so it should be pretty solid but I couldnt really get it to seat properly so it definitely shows. We can just call it character, but you should definitely be aware of it, but it has been glued with high quality wood glue so it should be stabilized. Please see picture. It does not currently have a lid support mechanism, so it probably should have a bracket installed to keep the lid from overextending when opened. A suitable stay or bracket could easily be sourced from a local hardware or woodworking shop. Or, would serve perfectly well as a coffee table, end table, or decorative piece. But still a solid usable chest. Overall, it is structurally solid, has an authentic vintage patina, and is ready for use. Dimensions: 38.5 in. Long x 21 in. Wide x 17 in. We have decided to sell our west elm mid century modern styled tv stand media console. It is 96 long by 19 x 27.75 high. Color is called Pebble. They still sell the wood stained one.
