The price is $160. The price is firm and non-negotiable. Please dont ask for a discount or make an offer. For sale is a nearly 50-year old Rocking Chair. This is a true rocking chair, with solid curved rails at the bottom of the chair that allow it to rock back and forth with ease. This is NOT a glider-type of chair. The chair was made by the Ronnoco Furniture Company, which I believe only existed for a few years in the 1970s. This particular chair was made in 1978. I believe all their furniture was manufactured in the U.S.A. This chair is a traditional American-style furniture piece. More specifically, this is an American press-back style of chair, where the design on the chairs crest rail, which is the top part of the back, is pressed into the wood in an intricate design. This type of construction is reminiscent of wood etching or wood carving. Pictures 18 and 20 shows closeups of this design feature. In addition, the piece has multiple long, round railings (or balusters) in the seatback, the arm rests, and the base. Picture 19 shows a closeup of one example of this railing design feature. The rocking chair is constructed nearly entirely of Northern Oak Wood with only a few metal nails, screws, or other support pieces. Most of the construction is wood-on-wood. When in the upright and stationary position, the chair measures about 40 tall, 22 wide, and 34 deep. The entire chair swings backwards by about another 8 when rocking. In other words, you should make sure that this chair is not within 8 of the wall (or other object). The seatback, where your back is placed, measures about 29 tall and 16 wide. The seat, where your butt is placed, measures about 16 deep and 16 wide. When in the upright and stationary position, the front portion of the seat is about 20 off of the ground, and the back portion of the seat is about 14 off of the ground. Due to the all-wood construction, its a rather heavy chair, weighing about 30 pounds. This is a very sturdy and solid chair. The chair is in excellent structural and functional condition. Most wood pieces are solid with no deterioration, warping, or other concerns. The rocking motion is very smooth and soothing. The only thing to note is that about 10 years ago, two of the wooden pieces in the seat portion of the chair begin to show signs of separating. A very tiny 1mm gap begin to form in the front portion connecting these two wood piece. To minimize the chances of the wood separating more, I installed four metal brackets on the bottom side of the seat. Pictures 22 and 23 clearly show these metal brackets in place. The good news is that the wood is intact with no additional separation. The metal brackets fixed this small issue. The chair is also in excellent cosmetic condition. There are a few surface scratches and two 0.5x0.5 sections on the pressed-wood back, where the surface wood is beginning to peal away. But these cosmetic concerns dont harm the structural integrity of the chair. Youll only purchasing the chair. I dont have a soft fabric seat cushion to include. You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction. I prefer that you reach out via text message.
