The Haunted Attic and The Vanishing Shadow written by Margaret Sutton, follows a realistic young woman who solves mysteries. Although the Judy Bolton mystery series was not quite as popular as Nancy Drew, Judy Bolton has been called a more complex and believable role model for girls. Each book was based on something that actually happened and many were also based on real life sites.
