Lionel HO 0365 U.S. Air Force Minuteman Boxcar
Excellent condition cosmetically. Launch Mechanism operates. Needs repair: the launch post has a metal roll pin at the very end which retains the spring. Plastic shrinks with age and since pin is steel, the hole in the post is split open. The pieces that go back on the launch post assembly are: Spring, Retainer, Roll Pin and the Post Tip which broke off. Can be repaired any number of ways - ranging from perfection to get the toy working. WARNING: If you buy one of these cars, if it looks in working order, DO NOT fire the missle since the slamming of the retainer during launch is enough to break open the retaining pin hole resulting in what you see here. If you have one that is good and you want to be able to fire it. Im not sure what you can do to keep from fracturing. The plastic is too old and too brittle. Unfortunately, they should have had a better design.
