The text is thorough and interesting and not too difficult for elementary-school readers, who will be excited to have this book. The facts and explanations are very interesting and address most of the questions kids have about dinosaurs, how they lived, how they are discovered, and how scientists figure out what they are. The bibliography lists books, videos, reputable Web sites, museums, and expeditions. The author even tells readers how to participate in a dig. Arranged alphabetically, this book contains more than 700 entries of every creature that has scientifically been deemed a dinosaur as well as those that are commonly mistaken for dinosaurs. This easy-to-navigate organization allows readers of all ages to glean as much or as little information about each animal as they need. Introductory essays cover topics such as how dinosaurs are named and grouped. The heart of the book is the alphabetical list of more than 700 entries, providing pronunciation, name derivation, classification, size, era, geographical location, and diet for each species. Brief paragraphs offer further descriptions, behaviors, and interesting facts. Most of the dinosaurs are accompanied by small illustrations, either of the animal or its fossil, and numerous striking full-page paintings show these creatures in their habitats, often in active poses that grab the eye. Almost half of the pages are color illustrations of the dinosaurs menti 1 d on the facing pages text. Smaller illustrations are liberally placed throughout, including pictures of b 1 s and teeth as they are found at digging sites. Information boxes profile paleontologists or give interesting sidelights about dinosaurs and dinosaur research. This hardback is in excellent, “like-new” condition and appears to have never been read. Amazon is currently selling this hardback for $34.61 see photo. Extreme care was taken while obtaining photos of the interior pages to preserve their perfect condition. Asking only $20.

These are from the early days of TV in Rochester, NY (1951-2). At that time Rochester only had one TV station, WHAM ,which was on channel 6. That is now WROC, channel 8. There are pages with the daily listings on the channel plus articles on local and national programs. Within these two years the name of the publication changed often. There was also a competing magazine, Rochester Whirl, which eventually got absorbed (1 issue included). Later issues include listing for 2 TV stations in Syracuse and one in Buffalo. In some issues there are advertisements for the Val Mates school of dance and he shows up on the cover twice. I also note that the one issue of Rochester Whirl is addressed to Val Mates (although they misspelled his name, Matis). These are 5.5 x 8.5 inches with an average of 24 pages. Not a complete collection but probably the biggest collection of issues available anywhere.
