High quality, pastured pork fat from exceptional heritage lard breeds - Mangalitsas and Mangalitsa-Large Black Hog crosses. Perfect to add to lean meatsvenison, turkey, etcfor sausages, or to render into lard for cooking, baking, candle and soap making. Our hogs are on rotated pasture, and supplemented w small batch Amish-milled feed and organic vegetable scraps. We do not use synthetic pesticides or herbicides on our farm. Lard has less saturated fat and cholesterol than butter and a higher smoke point. Pastured pork fat/lard is higher in vitamin D than traditionally raised meat and cooking oil. We dont cook w butter or oil anymore! Leaf lard makes the lightest and flakes pie crusts and biscuits! Fat is labeled and processed at a USDA inspected, animal welfare certified facility, vacuum sealed and flash frozen and kept in a deep freeze; packages range roughly between 3-7 lbs each.
