Avenue Bread has become a mainstay in Whatcom County, helping create a community centered around authentic eats for locals and visitors alike. For more than 30 years we’ve served fresh artisan breads, coffee, pastries, breakfast, and lunch, sourcing from local purveyors whenever possible. In essence we are a local café chain, with three locations in Bellingham and one in Lynden. Our Railroad Street location has its own unique vibe and is the one that started it all - we are looking for an experienced breakfast line cook. The ability to produce beautifully poached, over-easy, and sunny-side-up eggs, as well as omelets and grilled items is a must! As breakfast becomes lunchtime you’ll prepare sandwiches and salads. Your priority will be providing our customers with delicious food, and because we have each other’s backs you will also help any other team member when needed. You’ll work up a sweat most days, but the comradery, work environment, free shift meal, and tips will hopefully leave you feeling rewarded for your hard work. As management we do our best to support our staff with whatever is needed to help all succeed, and value the relationships we form as well. We are looking for someone who takes pride in cooking delicious and appealing food at a fast pace, and has a passion for being part of a supportive team environment. Most importantly we work together to provide a welcoming, positive experience and nourishment for our community. Hours: Part-time (20-30 hours) or Full-time (30-40 hours), day shifts of 5-8 hours. Weekend Availability is a Must! Starting Wage: $19.13 – $22.00/hour plus tips (approx. $7/hour). We’re Looking For: • Min. 1 year restaurant experience preparing breakfast-style eggs – a properly poached or fried egg is a must! • Have a sense of urgency and enjoy a fast-paced team environment. Take initiative and help others. • On-time to work with a positive attitude towards everyone. • Strong communication and multitasking skills. • Ability to stand for up to 8hrs per shift, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have full mobility of hands and arms while performing repetitive tasks. • Must know and follow sanitation procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and complete all scheduled cleaning assignments. • Current Food Handlers Card. • Serve Safe Certification is a plus.
