This authentic walnut 1930 s spinet writing desk has a unique and compact design featuring a flip top mechanism that opens up to a spacious writing area and multiple compartments for storage including a small drawer, side pen or pencil holders, 2 front side drawers, and a middle drawer in the front. Inside is also the original ink well that swivels out from the back. There is a beautiful decorative band that goes around the entire desk, front and back. The drawers are dove tailed and slide easily. The top folds up and the middle slides out to make the writing desk. It has been re-glued, and restored back to its original finish and is now ready for a new home. I have researched this style of desk and many of them were made by the Hekman Furniture Company with a sticker but over the years this 1 has no sticker any longer. The desk measures 36 wide x 21 deep x 32.5 high. If interested call Sharon at the number listed in the reply box.719-488-3778. This is a land line so will not accept texts. The stone displays beautiful natural marbling in warm tones of honey, cream, russet, and plum, creating a rich, dimensional surface that shifts subtly in different lighting. This antique tea cart was made by the Imperial Furniture Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan probably sometime between the 1930 s and 1950 s. It has a green crackled paint finish and hand painted floral detailing on the drop leaves and some on the top. The top shows some fading and discoloration from age which adds to the patina of the tea cart. It has large wooden wheels on 1 end and and 3 wooden wheels on the other end that are the original wheels. There is a removable glass tray that sits on the top or on the bottom shelf. The sides drop down but can be easily raised and pop up to give you more table space. It has a handle on 1 end that pulls up to move the cart and then folds down out of the way when not needed. The tea cart is 27 long x 18 wide x 28 high. The drop leaves are each 11 wide. When both leaves are up the top is 50 wide. This is a very unique piece that is a 1 of a kind tea cart and ready for a new home. It is in excellent condition in spite of its age. Antique Washboard - cleaning clothes the hard way ! As you might guess - family heirloom, early 20th century, the seller can still recall his mother using this not for ‘regular’ dirty items but only for seriously dirty fabrics, when the ‘new-fangled’ wringer-type washing machine didn’t do the job. Using these was hard - hard on the fabric, hard on the hands and arms of the user, and hard on the expectations - it often still left some stain in the fabric. 17 ½’ long/tall and 8 ½ “ wide. Very good condition for its age. Two photos of my washboard and the third photo shows the usually nutty prices from online resale sites. Japanese Jubako Wood Three 3 Tiered Lunch Box Lacquer Round Multicolor Antique Vintage Koma Nuri SPINNING TOP Three TIERS ROUND JUBAKO BENTO BOX Turned Wood* This colorful three-tiered Jubako Bento box is decorated with Koma(spinning top)-nuri and Tame-nuri, two of Yamanaka Lacquerwares distinctive features. Koma-nuri (spinning top lacquring) was popular among the common people in the mid-Edo period and refers to an eye-catching, multicolored lacquering technique. The result looks like Japanese spinning tops, which is said to bring good luck, and this lavishly colored design is perfect for festive banquets such as New Years. Tame-nuri is a lacquerware technique in which a middle coat of lacquer is applied and then polished with a coat of tame-nuri lacquer, so that the more time passes, the more transparent and vivid the base color becomes. Since the lacquer is a transparent candy-colored lacquer, the color of the visible lacquer will vary depending on the color of the lacquer used for the base. The evenly spaced lines are a characteristic decoration of Yamanaka lacquerware. This decorative method is called suji-biki, in which fine lines are made parallel to the surface of the wood by applying a blade to the wood while the lathe is turning. JUBAKO BENTO BOXES Jubako bento boxes make cuisine instantly look more elegant. Just pack the box to instantly elevate any meal. As a delightful hosting bonus, they also create a sense of excitement when the lid is opened. This set of jubako boxes are stylish and will change the atmosphere of your dining table into a gorgeous one. LACQUERWARE Japanese lacquerware, also called shikki in Japanese, is a proud handicraft with a long history dating back to 5,000 BCE, and traditional methods are still followed today. Durable, light, antibacterial, and robust enough to endure for more than one hundred years, Japanese lacquerware is not only beautiful, but also highly functional. Turned wood* The artisan has used a ‘koma’ or spinning top design which is the traditional design from the island of Shikoku. Concentric raised circles in varying bright colors of green, red, yellow and black lacquer gives this accessory a real spinning top moment. Natural lacquer inside. Estimated early 20th century from Kyoto, Japan. Approximate Measurements: Width - 7.25 inch. Depth - 7.25 inch. Height - 7.7 inch *Turned wood marks the begining of the industrial revolution, late 16th early 17thC. Having discovered the cosmic experience of the earth and moon turning around the sun, it was like a philosophical experience, for pleasure by bringing the philosophical concept to everyday, tea experience and playful tops.
