It features a black ACME nut for secure attachment to the tank and a RED quarter-turn ball valve to control the flow of propane gas to the connected appliance. Ensure all propane appliances and the main propane tank valve are in the off position. Thread the black ACME nut of the adapter onto the propane tank valve, turning clockwise until it is hand-tight. Do not overtighten. Connect the hose from your propane appliance to the threaded outlet of the adapter. Tighten this connection securely, typically with a wrench, ensuring a leak-free seal. Slowly open the main propane tank valve fully. Perform a leak test: Apply a soapy water solution to all connections. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Turn off the tank valve immediately, retighten connections, and retest. Once no leaks are detected, slowly turn the RED handle of the adapter to the open position (typically aligned with the gas flow direction) to allow propane to flow to your appliance. After use, first turn the RED handle of the adapter to the off position (perpendicular to gas flow) and then close the main propane tank valve. Disconnect the adapter from the tank when not in use. Safety Measures Always use outdoors or in a very well-ventilated area. Never use propane appliances designed for outdoor use indoors. Always perform a leak test with soapy water on all connections before each use to check for gas leaks. Do not overtighten connections; hand-tighten the ACME nut and use appropriate torque for other threaded connections to prevent damage or leaks. Keep open flames and ignition sources away from the connections when attaching or detaching the adapter. Store propane tanks outdoors in an upright position in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure the adapter and connected hoses are compatible with the pressure requirements of your propane tank and appliance.
