This a bedroom suite - comprising a tallboy, lowboy and nightstand - in the much sought after ‘Elegance’ line by United. Rich mahogany veneers throughout, and featuring elegant curved handles aligned vertically, and sitting flush to each other to create an unbroken line of drawer pulls. The tallboy and lowboy feature wave fronted sections. On the lowboy the wave fronted door conceals three internal drawers, while on the tallboy there are two wide deep drawers. Production stamps seem to show that the set was produced in 1961, but along with Young - who were similar in producing a lot of very interesting / unusual designs - relatively little information survives about the United Furniture Corporation. I know I start almost every listing with ‘the set arrived in very poor condition’, but please bear with me as I say the same all over again. This was a set that had lived a very full life. The time consuming / painstaking repair, restoration and refinishing of the suite can all be seen on our Instagram account which can be found at ’FTLOMOD’. There are also additional pictures of the finished pieces on Instagram. The process for each piece involved stripping, sanding, steaming out any dents and dings, veneer repairs and structural repairs before each piece was sealed, glazed, toned and lacquered in a satin finish to match the original factory finish. The mahogany veneers along with a glaze in Van Dyke Brown, and toning in walnut gives the set a beautiful warm look. The drawer interiors have all been sanded and thoroughly cleaned, but there are a couple of drawers with stubborn ink stains remaining. As always, it’s important to remember that this is a set that’s rapidly approaching being 70 years old, so there may still be signs of its long life with small dings etc, but otherwise it looks brand new and ready to go another 70 years. The set is available to view in Colchester, and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have about it. The tallboy features 2 upper drawers and 3 lower drawers and measures approx: 41” wide x 20” deep x 45” high The lowboy features 6 drawers, and 3 smaller internal drawers and measures approx: 62” wide x 20” deep x 31” high The nightstand features 3 drawers and measures approx: 22” wide x 16” deep x 25 1/2” high Pickup in Colchester Vt. 53×30×16 Beautiful 1990s classic oak pecan finish ball and claw claw foot narrow console table, pretty wood grains must be seen to appreciate, deep intricate carvings. All solid wood except the top center is pressed wood with veneer that can be/is commonly sanded and stained same as solid wood as veneer is a thin sheet of wood. Its a fairly quick half day to 3 day job to refinish the top of this piece, some use Restor to refinish finish wear. The finish of the legs and border are pretty, very nice condition as seen in pics, has minor scratches here and there, I consider the finish of the legs and border to be 88-93% out of 100. The market value of this style table is typically $1500 +. The top has notable wear as seen in pics. Refinishing the top would be a relatively easy 3-5 hour job. 30 high, 15 3/4 front to back, 53 long. The last 5 pics are of the back/other side both sides are the same, turn to either side.
