Complete details are listed below. This is a very sturdy, but lightweight tripod, constructed of aluminum alloy. It has three leg sections that extend with flip locks. It has a geared center column, which rises. It can hold up to 12 pounds of camera gear. But its still lightweight, weighing just 5 pounds. The tripod feet are terminated with rubber feet or spiked feet. You decide which type of feet you want by rotating between the two. The attached tripod head has the standard pan and tilt, which are independently controlled. The head also includes the ability for pivot the base plate 90 degrees for taking portrait-type still photos. These types of tripod heads that pan, tilt, and pivot are also called 3-way heads. Such heads are useful for both videography and still photography. The tripod head includes a quick release (QR) plate that connects to your camera or camcorder using a standard 1/4 mounting screw. The QR plate allows you to quickly install or remove the camera from the tripod head. The entire tripod (legs and attached head) is just 24 long when folded for storage. But there is no reason why you couldnt use this for still photography. Bogen is part of the larger Manfrotto Corporation. The system includes a set of tripod legs, model number 3051, and a tripod fluid head, model number 3066. These two items were purchased at the same time in the early 1990s at BH Photo retail store in New York City. Both items were manufactured in Italy, before Manfrotto outsourced the manufacturing of most of their products to Asia. This is an enormously large tripod system for the heaviest of camera gear or if steadiness is critical. The entire system weighs about 25 pounds. Its load capacity is 100 pounds! In its completely collapsed form for storage and transport, the system measures 42.5 long. When in use, the minimum height is 41 and the maximum height is 67. The tripod height is adjustable between 3.5 feet to 5.5 feet. The system is in excellent structural, functional, and cosmetic condition. There is nothing wrong with it. You can feel free to test all of the functions before purchase to confirm this. Youre only purchasing the tripod legs and the tripod head (with QR plate). No carry bag is included. The legs are constructed of aluminum alloy. Other parts are constructed of steel, plastic, and rubber. The legs weigh about 15 pounds (without the fluid head). In its completely collapsed form for storage and transport, the tripod legs measures 36.5 tall. This measurement is NOT including the tripod head. Please add 6 height for the tripod head. In the collapsed form, each leg measures about 34 long. Each leg can be extended once, using red push-levers located at the top of each leg. When fully extended, the second leg section measures about 20 long. What this means is that each leg can adjusted between 34 and 54 long. Each leg can be height adjusted independently, so that you can place the tripod on uneven surfaces. All three legs are held in place to the center support pole with extendable arms. Each extendable arm can be independently angled and adjusted. Therefore, each leg can be independently angled and adjusted, from 0 degrees, in the completely collapsed form for storage, to 80 degrees, at the maximum. At 80 degrees, the tripod is intended for near ground-level videography. The bottom of each leg terminates in a rubber foot. But you can twist this rubber foot out of the way to reveal metal spikes at the bottom of each leg. You decide between rubber feet or spiked feet. In the middle of the legs is a height-adjustable center column that can be extended upwards up to 9 on geared notches. The column is locked in place using a standard twist-knob. The actual height adjustment occurs using a standard rotating lever with a 4 long, pivoting arm. At the very top of the tripod legs is a large circular, metal platform where the tripod head rests. On this platform is a standard 3/8 male screw-mount for physically twist-connecting a tripod head to the legs. The minimum tripod height occurs when all of the tripod legs are angled at the maximum of 80 degrees and the legs are not extended. At this position, which is intended for near ground level videography, the minimum tripod height is 35. This measurement does NOT include the height of the tripod head. Please add 6 height for the tripod head. The maximum tripod height occurs when all of the tripod legs are angled at about 30 degrees and the legs are fully extended. The tripod legs are also in excellent cosmetic condition. There are no major scratches, dents, dings, or smudges. But there are some small scratches on some surface due to normal use. But these cosmetic issues dont harm the structural integrity of the tripod legs. #################### Detail About the Bogen Brand 3066 Model Tripod Fluid Head: This is an enormously massive video fluid head. The main portion of the head measures about 8 wide, 6 deep, and 6 tall. Its mainly constructed of aluminum alloy and steel. Other parts are constructed of plastic and rubber. It weighs about 10 pounds (independent of the above mentioned legs). This is a fluid-type of video tripod head, which has the standard pan and tilt, which are independently controlled. This pan and tilt head is also called a two-way head. The pan movement can be locked in place using a single control lever. The tilt movement has two separate control levers, one adjusting the friction of force needed for locking the movement, while the other locks the tilt in place. The pan and tilt movements are actually adjusted using a pan and tilt control arm. In its collapsed form, the arm measures about 12 long. After you extend this arm, its maximum length is 20 long. The control arm can be positioned on either the left-side or the right-wide of the tilt platform for left or right-handed use. And the arm can be angled in a number of ways to make its use more convenient. At the bottom of the head is a standard 3/8 female screw mount hole that is intended to physically connect to the similar screw mount of the top of the legs. At the top of the head is an enormously large clamp for a quick release (QR) plate. Included in the purchase is a enormously large QR plate that measures about 4 wide, 5.5 deep, and 0.75 thick. You connect your camera gear to the QR plate using a standard 1/4 or 3/8 screw mount, both of which are included. The QR plate pushes into the QR clamp and then get locked into place using a standard twist lock lever. The tripod head and QR plate are in excellent structural and functional condition. The pan and tilt mechanisms all work perfectly. The QR plate locks into place with ease. There is nothing functionally wrong with any aspect of the fluid head. The tripod head is also in excellent cosmetic condition. There are no major scratches, dents, dings, or smudges. But there are some small scratches on some surface due to normal use. And a small section of the original cork material on the top surface of the QR plate has etched away. But these cosmetic issues dont harm the structural integrity of the tripod legs. ####################
