This is a vintage beautiful mid century modern era table lamp made of ceramic with black color and glazed. This looks what they call May West dress design body. When you look straight at lamp without shape it looks like a dress down to waist and bottom of dress. The cord can also tell the age of lamp as well as sticker near bulb. This is in perfect to near perfect shape from what I see. Measures about 25 1/2 inch high 8 long on bottom The shade is not original I’m adding it for the lamp and it works. But obviously buyer can choose to change it. Email or text with any questions. Price is Firm!

This old tapestry advertises a business that no longer exists on W 8 Mile Rd. back in the day. It’s highly detailed and looks like it was almost hand-painted. It probably was designed to be displayed at the restaurant or at the homes of valued customers, with the original hanging string still attached. Base on the Zone # (19) in the address, the advertising tapestry was most likely used in the 1950s. The tapestry measures 14 1/2 inches tall and 8 inches wide. It looks like it is composed of many wooden sticks (bamboo?) that are slatted to easily fold into one another. All of the colors and details are bold as they were 60-70 years ago. Luckily, the previous owner kept this piece stored and out of the sunlight. Displayed, the tapestry would be a neat example of artistic advertising pieces in Detroit business history

This original die-cut lithographed advertising calendar from the 19th century measures 8 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide. On the front bottom left is a copyright date (1893) by the Knapple Lithograph Co. (as shown). On the back is the entire calendar for 1894. When you open the calendar, there’s some oxidation/discoloring on the borders that matches the design and cut of the front of the calendar. Luckily, it has no effect on the graphics. On the left side of the inside portion of the calendar is a list of insurance rates. For instance, 50 cents a week for a person aged 21 would insure them for $930, big bucks 125 years ago. Also, the major dates for the holidays are listed. Back then, Memorial Day was called Decoration Day. In 1894, the Metropolitan Insurance Company’s offices were in Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Bay City/Saginaw. I think it’s safe to say that only a few copies—if any— of this calendar probably exist, especially in such great condition. As you can see from the photos, the colors and graphics are bold and clear,

This monthly magazine, in newsprint form, offered housewives back in the day romantic short stories, articles on managing the home, songs, poems, and dress patterns—along with some interesting ads. The magazine, published by Vickey and Hill Publishing Co. of Augusta, Maine, called itself “A Journal of Choice Literature.” It measures 13 1/2 x 11 inches. Although some of the bindings have come loose, all of the magazines have the full amount of pages. One of the magazines have torn corners on the last few pages and some have a few nicks on the borders, but all of the great graphics are in good shape. Here are the dates. —July 1923 —April 1927 (loose binding0 Special Easter Edition —June 1927 (loose binding) “Children’s Day” —Feb. 1930 (good shape) —Jan. 1933 (good shape; 32 pages) New Year’s Edition Two things stand out with these magazines the cover art (most signed by F. S. Nosworthy) and the ads (some are comical). All five magazines were addressed were addressed to a person in Watervliet, MI, and are in pretty good shape for being around a hundred years old.

This book was made specifically by Lucky Strike cigarettes ahead of the 1938 New York World’s Fair. It was written by Roy Flanagan who was a journalist for the Richmond (VA) News Leader. The very beginning of the book announces a Lucky Strike exhibition at the Fair, which will feature cigarette rolling and packing machines, a diorama to show how tobacco is grown, and a movie that shows how Lucky Strike tobacco is handled. The book is meant to be a combination of a long ad that masquerades as a book. This 94 page book outlines the history of tobacco, the process in making it, and how cigarette machines work. There are plenty of photos throughout. The book has two old ink stains on the cover, but the inside of the book looks as though it was never read. It measures 5 1/4 x 7 3/4 inches.

These two 100+ year old New Years postcards are very neat. The first one uses a hot air balloon to celebrate the new year of 1908. It was postmarked Dec. 27, 1907, and sent from Chicago to an address in Muskegon, MI. The second one, celebrate New Years 1911, is a. bit more traditional. It has a small chunk missing in the lower left corner, but it has no effect on the art. It features a rustic home during sunrise. The inner art is surrounded by holly. Theresa planned on sending it to William, but it didn’t happen. So sad.
