The price is $800. This price is firm and non-negotiable. Please dont ask for a discount or make an offer. For sale is a tall storage cabinet intended to house, display, and access audio-video (AV) gear, electronic equipment, home theater hardware, or computer servers. But it can also be used to store and display other items, including art, books, media, dishware, etc. This cabinet is from the Danish / Scandinavian mid-century-modern (MCM) style of furniture, first made popular in the 1950s. This cabinet was manufactured by the Faarup Mobler / Mobelfabrik Furniture Company in Denmark. Nearly all exterior portions of the cabinet are constructed of genuine teak wood veneer over MDF. Due to the generous use of teak wood throughout, its a very heavy piece, weighing about 50 pounds. The cabinet is a tall, rectangular-type of box, measuring about 24 wide, 17.75 deep, and 47 tall. Its an open-face design with no front doors or panels. The interior space within the cabinet walls measures about 22 wide and 17 deep. Whatever you place inside the cabinet cannot be wider than 22 or it will not fit. Whatever you place inside the cabinet cannot be deeper than 17 or it will stick outside the footprint of the cabinet. Of course, you can fit an item that exceeds these dimensions on top of the cabinet. This interior space within the cabinet, where you place your electronics gear, has one fixed, non-removable shelf that equally divides the interior space into 20.5 tall upper and lower sub-sections. Picture 15 shows these two interior spaces (without the removable shelves inserted). Whatever you place inside the cabinet cannot be taller than 20.5 or it will not fit. Of course, you can fit an item that exceeds this height on top of the cabinet. Included in the purchase are three (3) removable shelves, which can be placed, with some restrictions, within the boundaries of these interior spaces. Picture 14 shows the three removable shelves outside of the cabinet. One (1) of these removable shelves is a pull-out shelf that slides out on metal sliders. Pictures 2 and 3 show this pull out tray in action. Picture 12 shows the metal slider that allows the shelf to be pulled out. This pull-out shelf was originally intended to hold a record player turntable, which you pull out of the cabinet to play a vinyl LP record. This pull-out shelf is currently placed at the top space within the cabinet. But its possible to move this shelf to a lower position. Or you can completely remove this pull-out shelf. Two (2) of these removable shelves get inserted into metal brackets within the cabinet. These shelves are slightly height-adjustable. Picture 13 shows the metal brackets in place without a shelf. As is currently in place, this is the height of each of the five interior shelves, starting from the top: – 1st: 7 – 2nd: 5.5 – 3rd: 5.5 – 4th: 6.75 – 5th: 13 The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd interior shelves are slightly height adjustable up and down. The 4th and 5th interior shelves are not height-adjustable. The entire cabinet is in excellent structural and functional condition. All exterior and internal wooden support panels are excellent, with no bending, warping, or fatigue. The shelves all robustly sit within the cabinet and the metal brackets are intact. Cosmetically, the cabinet is also in excellent condition. There are some very small scratches on some exterior surfaces. But there is nothing cosmetically significant that would detract from the beauty of the teak wood. Overall, the grain on all teakwood surfaces is excellent. Please see Pictures 18 to 21, which shows closeups of the wood grain. There are two important cosmetic issues to note. The first is that there is some small deterioration of the teak veneer at the bottom of the cabinet. Another tiny veneer section is missing from a cross-beam at the top. These cosmetic issues are potentially noticeable, but given their location, your eyes wont normally steer towards these imperfections. Pictures 21 to 24 show magnified closeups of these imperfections. The second cosmetic concern is that there are numerous holes in the wooden back panel that were drilled out to accommodate electronic cables and wires to connect the AV equipment that was placed inside the cabinet. The good news it that these holes are normally not visible as there will be AV components placed in front of them. Picture 7 shows these back panel holes. You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. Given the large size of the cabinet, an SUV or truck would work well. It is not likely to fit within a standard passenger-sized vehicle. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction. I have an SUV. I prefer that you reach out via text message. Sending an initial email message is OK. But arranging pickup solely using email is not a feasible option for me. Eventually, youll have to text me to arrange a specific pickup or delivery time. Thanks.
