Refurbished 1987 Schwinn Sierra MTB 20 inch frame 3 x 6 Drivetrain

Very good condition. I am the original owner. I purchased it as a new leftover in March of 1988. I refurbished the bike a few years ago. Work included new inner cables for the brakes and the shifters. The black outer cables are new. New brake pads. Bearings were replaced and packed with marine grease on the wheel hubs, bottom bracket, and steering tube. New upright handlebars. I still have the original bars, you are welcome to them. New Specialized rim tape strips and tubes. Tires are 26 x 1.75 inches and in like new condition. Upgraded to a Shimano 14-34 tooth Shimano 600 freewheel. This freewheel with this tooth count is very rare. One of the photos shows the rear wheel removed with the freewheel removed to show that the freewheel is not seized onto the wheel hub and also shows the good condition of the hub freewheel threads which have a coating of antisieze applied to them. Chain was replaced. All the new work has less than 300 miles on it. The seat is period correct. It came off an 80s Ross Mount Whitney. The seat post and steering stem are NOT seized into the frame as they are on some older bikes that have not been well cared for. I sprayed the interior of the frame tubes with WD-40 as a rust preventive measure. I just changed out the pedals and the crankarm threads are excellent. Original aluminum Araya 26 x 1.75 rims with the spoke dimples made in Japan. These are the wider version of what was available at the time and sell for good money on ebay. Spokes surfaces show some corrosion. Other than when on some camping trips this bike has always been stored inside. Typical of the bikes from the 80s this one has quality components mounted on a solid 4130 Crome Moly steel frame. These were built to last. Note the generous amount of brazeons at the wheel dropouts allowing the installation of both fenders and luggage racks on both the front and rear of the bike. The components from bikes from this era still bring good money on ebay. This bike is ready to ride today. It needs nothing. Paint is good but does have some chips here and there. As the photos show there is no extensive rust. This is a solid frame. If the seat fits your profile so much the better as the seat is of decent quality. $150 in the correct amount of cash only.
