This is a set of vintage orange swiveling dining room chairs by Virtue Brothers of California, that has been in my family since it was new. It is a very clean smooth style right after the MCM period. I think my parents got them as a wedding present 1972, but I never got the full story. I just know it was in the formal dining room and we only went in there on Holidays or when guests showed up. They are in good shape for their age, just look at the photos. The side edges on the back rests show the most wear, where it would bump the table as it swiveled. We were trying different feet that didnt leave marks on the wood floor and didnt slide to easily like the originals. All the foot tips are available online or at hardware stores, you just have to decide what works best for you. We tried one in black & white rubber. One foot is missing the nylon pad on the original set of feet. The base separates easily with one screw at the base of the mounting bracket and the base post can can lift off easily. Vintage Early Thonet 1216-S17-B1 Bent Plywood Accent/Dining Chair Cosmetically, maybe a little less than Good, but still a sturdy seat in an obviously well loved relic from the quintessential bistro chair designers. Perfectly rustic and charming as is, but could stand a makeover if youre looking for a historic statement chair. Hardware actually in decent shape for a paper label specimen, but likely wouldnt want to disassemble unless youre up for a total makeover with some extra effort to reassemble. Dimensions: ~33H X 14.5W X 20.25D (Seat: ~18H). Asking $200. Cash/Zelle or Venmo (+3%). We do have a couple of antique #18 bistros on hand as well (cane intact, in need of refastening the wood).
