FAST CASUAL RESTAURANT (near Grand Central Station) NYC FOOD HANDLERS LICENSE Part-Time Culinary Lead Trainee $18- $21 (Hiring Immediately!) Are you an experienced Line Cook open to learning? We are Dùndú—we offer flavorful, made-from-scratch Nigerian cuisine. You must be a teachable leader, trained directly by our Founder, a CIA-trained chef with over two decades of experience cooking Nigerian food. We need a Culinary Lead Trainee with large-scale cooking experience and a genuine love for from-scratch cooking. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented mindset. Once trained, you will uphold Dùndú’s menu production standards without day-to-day supervision or handholding. MUST HAVE NYC FOODHANDLERS LICENSE TO APPLY !! Culinary Lead Trainee responsibilities include and are not limited to: • Develop thorough knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, preparation, dietary classifications and allergens. • Always follow Dùndú recipes and production checklists to ensure consistency in taste & quality. • Interpret catering orders for food production using established systems • Lead prep and food production for large catering orders (20–500 guests) • Oversee culinary operations and ensure food quality and consistency • Accurately scale recipes using established systems • Train and onboard kitchen crew using Dùndú standards and recipes • Give clear daily prep direction to BOH team based on service and catering needs • Lead BOH team with urgency to ensure efficient food production • Ensure all food production, storage, and cleaning meet and exceed DOH standards • Lead by example—maintain an immaculately clean workstation at all times, including during service • Coordinate with FOH leadership to ensure smooth shifts and catering fulfillment • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and remain in uniform at all times Physical Requirements • Ability to read and comprehend information. • Ability to use electronic systems, such as computers and tablets. • Physically able to lift up to 30 pounds and, stand throughout shift • Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, cutting tools, utensils and other equipment • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner • Subject to exposure to cleaning chemicals Required Traits • A team player with a positive can-do attitude • Able to take feedback and correction • Quick and adaptable learner • Excellent and collaborative communication skills • Ownership Mindset Benefits at DUNDU • Competitive Pay • Free DUNDU Meal for every shift worked • The opportunity to get in on the ground floor of next big thing in fast casual. • Friendly and positive work environment with a caring team.
