Pair of Antique Regency Marble Top Chiffonier Pier Cabinets w/Brass and Silk Grill Quite a bit better than fair, though likely have seen some updating. What little provenance we have lends to them being a higher end antique, possibly heirloom set donning all the constructs of a no later than earlier Victorian build. Hardware and non-uniform dovetailing with the most period identifying sawtooth or ratchet adjustable shelves. Pleated silk in good condition, so if I had to guess, that, the gilt, finish and possibly even 1 thick marble tops could be more modern updates. Marble is beautiful, dense and heavy white with speck of grey and an elegant bevel. No makers mark which isnt entirely uncommon for true period pieces. Sadly, some staining on one of the silks (not super noticeable from the outside) and one cabinet is currently locked (tried our hoard of skeleton keys to no avail). The locked one does have a shelf and two cleats inside. One more noticeable chip in the veneer at the back base a hanging piece on on top support. This is a vintage Mid-Century Modern Hollywood Regency Campaign style cedar storage produced by iconic makers like Lane Furniture. It features characteristic recessed flush-mount brass hardware, protective corner brackets, a rich wood grain patina, a top-opening lid, and false front panels configured to look like multiple dresser drawers. Circa 1970s Military Campaign combined with Hollywood Regency and Ming Revival influences. Recessed solid brass drawer pulls and flush corner brackets designed historically to prevent damage during transit. Primarily serves as a bedroom storage trunk or blanket chest, often lined with aromatic cedar to protect linens and clothing. This is in absolute wonderful condition with only minor touchups needed. Japanese kiri (paulownia wood) tansu chest featuring eight drawers, two full-width drawers, three medium-size drawers, and three small drawers, including two hidden behind the lower right door. The chest retains its original hand-forged iron hardware with decorative lock plates, bail pulls, and corner brackets characteristic of traditional Meiji-era cabinetry. The simple, functional design reflects the Japanese balance of practicality and understated beauty. Side handles, once used for transport, remain intact. A timeless and versatile storage piece that adds warmth and character to Japandi, wabi-sabi, or rustic modern interiors. Structurally solid with age-appropriate wear, light surface irregularities, marks, scratches, and dings. There is a small hole in the top inside a knot in the wood. Iron hardware shows natural oxidation and patina. Normal separations in the back were once covered with duct tape and retain some adhesive residue.
