For sale: One large, funky, heavy, high-quality mirror. 52” x 38”, can be hung horizontally or vertically. It will add character to any room and brighten up the space. It’s perfect to hang over your fireplace, which is where it was in my last house. My new house sadly doesn’t have anywhere appropriate for it. The mirror has a solid wood frame that’s covered with a patinated coppery-colored metal. Could actually be copper. It’s a nice aged look. Nailhead circle and star patterns decorate the face of the frame, with a brass border strip around the mirror glass. The glass has a beveled edge to add that extra bit of subtle sparkle. I think the style is flexible enough to work in almost any interior. I hung it on a stone fireplace in a log house. It would add texture to a white-walled modern interior, and fit right into a transitional space, adding a little bit of exotic air of mystery. It might even work in a straight-up colonial-style interior due to the simple nailhead decoration, though the beveled glass would give it away as being more modern. We strung garland and lights around it for the holidays. This really is a wonderful piece, and I never expected to sell it. It’s not the type of thing you’re going to find at “Tarzhay,” but maybe at a high-end furniture store. We bought it from an interior designer whose picky client changed their mind. Paid over $700 in 2004, (receipt available on request) and that was certainly a bargain. Retail would have probably been in the $1100 range. $700 then is the same as $1200 now, according to the inflation calculator. With a little care (don’t drop it!) this thing will outlast you and your grandkids. It’s in my storage unit at Extra Space Storage at 36 Pope’s Ln in Danvers, MA, just off Rte 1. Can be seen by appointment.
