The price is $600. This price is firm and non-negotiable. Please dont ask for a discount or make an offer. For sale is a large display cabinet or display case. Its used to display curios, art items, books, and memorabilia. But you can use it to display or store almost anything that you can think of. The display cabinet was purchased by me at a boutique San Francisco furniture gallery in the 1990s. The gallery owner assured me that the cabinet was made in Japan in the early 1960s. This was likely handmade and not a branded item. Its been in my house used as a display cabinet since I purchased it. I no longer have space for it, so I am hoping someone else has use for it. The cabinet is relatively wide, tall, and shallow. It measures 40 wide, 43.75 tall, and 15 deep. It can be placed on the floor and against a solid wall. It could also be hung on a wall using standard screws. And it can also be placed in the middle of a room with nothing next to it, as the back of the cabinet is as beautiful as the front. The front of the cabinet has two equal-sized hinged doors that open outwards. The interior space of the cabinet measures 37 wide, 41 tall, and 13.5 deep. The items that you display inside should be no more than about 13 deep. There are two removable glass shelves that break down this interior space into three spaces. The bottom shelf measures 15 tall. The middle and top shelves each measure 13 tall. The items that you display inside should be no more than about 13 - 15 tall. But if you need more height, you can always remove one of the glass shelves to create a taller space. Most of the cabinet is constructed of genuine rosewood. This is solid rosewood and not just rosewood veneer over MDF. The two front hinged door panels are made of rosewood beams and glass sheets. The bottom and top of the case is made of thick sheets of rosewood. The sides of the cabinet are constructed of rosewood beams and glass sheets. And the back panel is constructed of rosewood beams and reflective mirrored glass. As mentioned above, the two removable shelves are made of glass sheets. Most of the cabinet is held together using old-school wood joinery methods and glue. There are only a few visible screws. Its in excellent structural condition. All rosewood support beams are in robust structural condition, with no bending, warping, or fatigue. With one exception (see below), all glass and mirrored panels are intact. The front door panels open and close with ease. The door hinges are in excellent shape and the lock and key work fine. Cosmetically, the cabinet is also in excellent condition. There are no major scratches, dents, or dings on any of the wooden panels. There are some tiny surface scratches on some wooden beams, but most are difficult to see, unless youre specifically looking for them. The glass and mirrored sheets are free of major scratches and smudges. There are three imperfections to note. Both of the removable glass sheets have a couple of tiny chips in the corner or edge sections. Pictures 22 to 24 show closeups of these tiny chips. But these chips are difficult to see once the glass is placed inside the cabinet. Another thing to note is that there is a small hole at the top of the unit, where an electrical cable for an interior light once passed. Its not particularly noticeable. Finally, one of the wooden beams on the top right side fell off a few years ago. But I glued it back into place. You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. Youll probably need an SUV or truck. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction. I prefer that you reach out via text message. Sending an initial email message is OK. But arranging pickup solely using email is not a feasible option for me. Eventually, youll have to text me to arrange a specific pickup or delivery time.
