The price for all three tables is $1,000. As they are intended to be used together in a nested design, I wont sell individual tables. This price is firm and non-negotiable. Please dont ask for a discount or make an offer. For sale is a set of three (3) small coffee tables or end tables that are intended to be used in a living room or bedroom. Of course, these can also be used in other settings and for other purposes. All three tables are Imperial Furniture Company brand. Imperial was a small family-owned furniture company, founded in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1903. The company was sold to another furniture company is the mid-1950s and later ceased operations completely. These particular tables were likely manufactured in Grand Rapids in the mid-1920s. These are about 100 years old. This time estimate is based on the style and font of the Imperial logo on the bottom of one of the tables. See picture 6. Also, all three tables are stamped with the number 236, which likely was the specific model number of this set and consistent with their nomenclature from the 1920s. All three tables are a combination of traditional American style of furniture, with some elements of the Duncan Phyfe style. All three tables are constructed of genuine walnut wood for the table tops and genuine mahogany wood for the legs and support frames. This is solid wood throughout and not just wood veneer over MDF. Most of the construction techniques are wood-on-wood. But the table tops are connected to the legs underneath using thick metal screws. Overall, this is high-end design and construction. These tables were designed to work together in a nested design. Nested tables are tables that fit underneath each other (or above each other) to save space during storage. If you only need one table, the other tables fit underneath and dont take up extra floor space. But if you need more usable table top space, the extra tables simply are pulled out from storage underneath the primary table and can then be used in a different location, or next to each other. This particular set of nested tables is composed of three (3) separate tables, each of different sizes and styles. When connected together during nesting, they appear to be a single table of extremely complex and intricated design. When un-nested and used separately, each table seems more simple and less intricate. Pictures 1 to 4 show the tables nested together, looking like a single table with multiple feet. Picture 5 shows the tables in the process of being un-nested. The primary nesting table or largest table measures about 24 wide, 18 deep, and 24 tall. The top surface of this table sits 24 off of the ground, and is constructed of a single oval-shaped sheet of 0.75 thick solid wood. This table has four separate, pencil-thin legs, one at each corner. Each leg measures about 23.75 tall. This table weighs about 8 pounds. The legs and top of this table are from the American traditional style of furniture design. There is a small amount of ornamentation in the legs and at the edges of the table top and the support frame underneath it. Pictures 7 to 12 are from this primary table. The secondary nesting table or middle-sized table is slightly smaller, measuring 14.75 wide, 18 deep, and 23.25 tall. The top surface of this table sits 23.25 off of the ground, and is constructed of a single sheet of 0.75 thick solid wood. The top surface is sort of rectangular-shaped, but two of the top edges have a slight curve to them. This table also has four separate, pencil-thin legs, one at each corner. Each leg measures about 22.5 tall. This table weighs about 7 pounds. The legs and top of this table are from the American traditional style of furniture design. There is a small amount of ornamentation in the legs and at the edges of the table top and the support frame underneath it. Pictures 13 to 18 are from this secondary table. The tertiary nesting table or smallest table measures about 12 wide, 18 deep, and 22.5 tall. The top surface of this table sits 22.5 off of the ground, and is constructed of a single sheet of 0.75 thick solid wood. The top surface is sort of rectangular-shaped, but two of the top edges have a slight curve to them. This table weighs about 7 pounds. The top of this table is also from the American traditional style of furniture design. But unlike the others, this lowest table has a single Duncan Phyfe style leg in the middle that is gently curved and splayed in a quadra-pod configuration. Duncan Phyfe was an 19th Century furniture maker accredited with the design of this type of furniture support leg. This table is more ornate that the others, with a lot more embellishment in the leg. This table is a combination of American traditional style of furniture design, along with Duncan Phyfe style legs and ornamentation. Pictures 19 to 24 are from this tertiary table. In normal nested tables, the tables merely sit underneath one another. But this particular set is different, in that each lower table actually physically connects to the upper table. How does this work? The top primary table has openings or slots located at the bottom of the table top frame, one on each side (left and right). The table top of the secondary table gets inserted into these slots of the primary table above it, so that these two tables are physically connected to each other. One does not merely sit underneath the other. In a similar manner, the middle secondary table also has slots located at the bottom of the table top frame, one on each side (left and right). The table top of the lowest tertiary table gets inserted into these slots of the secondary table above it, so that these two tables are physically connected to each other. One does not merely sit underneath the other. The idea of physically connecting the tables is that you can simply pick up the primary table and the lower two tables hitch a ride with it. Its a very interesting, but complex design. When nested, the combination looks like a single table with eight separate legs, along with a large Duncan Phyfe middle leg. The combination takes up the exact same space as the largest table, measuring 24 wide, 18 deep, and 24 tall. All three table weigh about 22 pounds when connected together. As mentioned before, Pictures 1 to 4 show the nested tables connected together, looking like a single table with multiple feet. Picture 5 shows the tables in the process of separating into three distinct tables. All three tables are in excellent structural and functional condition, especially considering they are about 100 years old. Structurally, everything is in robust condition, with no wood bending, warping, or fatigue. The legs on each table is also solid and robustly connected to each table top. The nesting slots all operate perfectly. Cosmetically, everything is also in excellent condition. There are no significant scratches, dents, dings, or smudges or any exterior surface. There are some very tiny surface scratches and dings on the table top of the primary table. These cosmetic issues dont harm the structural integrity of any table. Please see the attached pictures of the actual tables for a better understanding of their excellent cosmetic condition. Pictures 11, 17, and 23 are of the top surfaces of each table, showing the beautiful grain pattern of the walnut wood. You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. You can easily fit this into a standard sized passenger car. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction. I prefer that you reach out via text message.
