Stripping away the heavy varnish, she ordered the wood to be coated in a high-gloss, liquid lilac lacquer—a shade she claimed she saw in a dream about a Parisian twilight. To ground the radical purple, she bypassed traditional silks and chose a sharp, tailored plaid for the seats, sourced from a small textile mill in Scotland. It was a defiant marriage of British haberdashery and Hollywood Regency rebellion. For decades, these eight seats hosted midnight cocktail parties, survived spilled gin fizzes, and listened to the gossip of artists, rebels, and film stars, waiting for the day they would find their next bold home.
