Hardwood flooring: We sanded the entire finish of the existing floor and removed approximately 1/32 of wood to remove any scratches. Floors are then coated with polyurethane; most 3/4 hardwood floors can be sanded up to 6 times, provided professionals do the sanding. You can choose the finish you prefer: water-based or oil-based polyurethane. Hardwood Floor Stain Colors. There is a wide variety of stains; each floor reacts differently to them. So, after our crew sands an area of your house, we can apply color samples to show you how they will truly look on your floor. In our experience, this is the best way to choose stain colors.
