Hiroshige’s ‘Sudden Shower…’ Lithographic Print, Framed - New

‘Sudden Shower Over Shin-Ohashi Bridge’ Lithographic Print, Framed – this is a reproduction of Hiroshige’s woodblock print, a classic Japanese image depicting everyday life in that era. The image was part of his mid-1850s oeuvre ‘One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.’ It depicts a cloudburst that scatters the crouching people on the bridge, and beyond, a solitary boatman poling his log raft downstream. This litho print image is 20” W x 30” H with double mat under glass 26-1/2” x 36-1/2”, in a black wood frame about 28” W x 38” H overall. (The original woodblock print was about 9” W x 13” H.) The boxed captions in the upper right and lower left corners of the print are in Japanese calligraphy ‘Shodo’ and include the artist signature, the title of the print, and its place (No. 58) in the larger ‘Edo’ work. This framed assemblage is dust-sealed on the back w/brown kraft paper and wired for immediate hanging. It’s available for local pick-up in San Rafael, cash, Venmo, or PayPal.
