Authentic Herman Miller Eames Aluminum Group Management Chair with Black Cygnus Mesh Upholstery - EA335 - 2003 I do not hold items without a deposit. I purchased this chair new in 2003. If you were to purchase this version of the chair new, it will cost you $2550 plus tax and shipping. I’m selling the chair for $1100. At the moment it is for local pickup only. Condition: I gave the aluminum a good polishing, and it looks fantastic. There are still a few minor scratches and dark spots here and there, but they can be removed with a Dremel, or drill and some polish. The Cygnus mesh has a spot where the vertical weave has torn, but the horizontal weave still holds strong. Check pictures for condition. The Eames Aluminum Group Collection (1958) began as a special project for Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard, who needed seating for a home they were designing for industrialist J. Irwin Miller in Columbus, Indiana. The pair asked the Eameses to design light, mobile leisure chairs. At the time, Charles and Ray were exploring ways to use aluminum, which had been strengthened, refined and made more affordable since WWII. So, they constructed a lightweight, die-cast aluminum frame and set a sling in it – a “sitting pocket,” as they called it, which subtly conformed to the body’s shape. This completely new type of seat marked a departure from the idea of a chair as solid shell. Constructed of 61% recycled materials, the Eames Aluminum Group Chair is backed by a 12-year manufacturer’s warranty. It’s also 88% recyclable at the end of its useful life. Includes exhaust fan, which also works. There are scratches in the glass top. Dimensions are 30.75 wide by 22 front to back; fits into a hole approx 28.5 wide by 21 front to back.
