It was serviced in 2022 by another highly-respected guitar tech in Seattle, who installed a K&K passive pickup, replaced the saddle and nut with bone, and did some fret leveling. Theres a small scratch on the front, and a small portion of the binding is starting to pull away at the top waist, which is very common in Martin acoustics. The guitar is easy to play and sounds really great... I have for sale an amazing sounding Rev C 3 channel Dual Rectifier Head that has been recently retubed. It is also in very good condition cosmetically with no tears in tolex or scratches in the metal framing. I have used it for recordings and when not in use, it sits in my smoke free home studio covered. Looking up the serial number online, The serial number R-0471xx indicates that ut is from the Revision C range. This series began production in the early 2000s, making it part of the initial release of the 3-Channel models. Yes, it is true, the 3 channels models have their own rev system as well. UPDATED: I have a Chapman Stick for sale. I acquired it in 2016 and sent it to Emmet Chapman to be overhauled to like new condition. I initially thought one of the pickups to be faulty. That was due to the stereo nature of the electronics. The Chapman Stick requires a TRS jack/cable to work. I have included my correspondence with Mr. Chapman regarding the specifics. Other than one listed on eBay for nearly twice the price, this might be the only Chapman Stick for sale. Nothing on the Stick Enterprises web site or Reverb. The instrument has had an extensive update in 2016 as detailed in the documentation. Im including a set of brand new strings that are still in the package. This bass is right about 28 years old and it has been played. As such, she carries signs of use and wear, although none of them effect playability in anyway. Beginning with the top of the body, the pickup cover shows signs of string contact particularly from the 3rd and 2nd stings. There are some very superficial scratches on the top but not many. they should definitely buff out if you’re of a mind to do so. There are some swirls around the base of the control knobs but they don’t really show in the photos Nothing to note around the neck pocket or the inside of the horns. The edge of the body is dent/ding free with just a slight scuffing between the bottom strap button and output jack. The back has a fair amount of superficial buckle rash that at certain angles gives a hazy sheen in the center of the back there is a small ding close to the cavity cover, but the Color and wood are indisturbed. The satin finish on the back of the neck is well worn, making it very comfortable to play. the frets are in great shape, smooth fret ends and only a couple very shallow divots on the first couple of frets. Nothing that strings will hang up on, just signs of jamming. The finger board is in very good shape. There is also a decades old crack on the head stock that runs vertical with the grain, but not all the way through front to back. It is one the bass side of the headstock. This is not a crack the runs left to right that often ends in the headstock breaking off. The previous owner played this bass as is for over 20 years and said it has been very stable as it was there when he bought it back after the turn of the century. Please look at the photos closely as they can explain it better than I can. If the integrity of the wood in the headstock concerns you any at all, as a woodworker since 1987, I’d recommend having some Tite-Bond wood glue thinned out with water and injected into it with a 23 gauge or smaller hypodermic needle and syringe. I have reinforced many components of high end furniture this way when I’ve seen a similar flaw. Having seen this in many pieces of wood over the years, I am confident that it is a non-issue. It isn’t called a “Growler” due to being your typical four string bass. It is not. This boutique bass earned its name from a fierce, low-mid snarl that cuts like a chainsaw through any dense mix. I have two of these available, if you want a pair. Note: This is a modern reproduction of original The Mastering Lab ML-1 microphone preamplifier, built by The Mokry Lab in Austin, Texas. The Mokry Lab is not associated with the The Mastering Lab, past or present. One of the most rare and esoteric mic preamps ever made. When I started building these in 2017, I used some parts left over from the original run purchased from one of the designers and developers of the product. I also used those parts as models to replicate ALL the parts necessary to build brand new ML-1 mic preamps. Everything in these units is brand new. I was able to obtain the data necessary to replicate the input transformer from the original manufacturer, which is a key part of capturing the sound of the original units. I worked very closely with the designer to ensure the preamps came out perfect. He provided invaluable info to make this project possible. We spoke and emailed almost daily. I also sent him completed units to check out and approve - which he did. I also sent one to Nashville for demos, which reached Gary Paczosa. Mr. Paczosa compared my unit to his originals and heard no difference. I spent considerable time and expense chasing this dragon since 2016. Ive been repairing and building tube preamps, microphones, EQs, compressors and guitar amps for 30+ years in Austin, Texas. Im a fastidious, perfectionist kind of guy. These units are built right, a fact Ive very proud of. They sound identical to the originals (I have made many comparisons) and are built more cleanly. So what do they sound like? Very clear and hi fi with loads of headroom, but not sterile at all. A term Ive heard is effortless. Its as if the very best of tube and solid state sounds were combined. THD is typically .009% at +24dBu with 1K test tone. These are not fuzzy tube mic preamps. The ML-1 excels on voices and stringed instruments, but sounds great on everything. Original units are around 25 years old now. They require recapping, replacing the zener diodes in the B+ regulation, etc. Youll have none of those issues to worry about. BTW, I also beefed up the B+ regulation zeners (zener failure/explosion is a known issue with ML-1). The flat pack power transformers in the original units buzzed physically - its noticeable if you record in the control room. I had custom toroidal transformers manufactured that match the voltage and current specs of the original flat pack transformers exactly. No more buzz, and better SNR specs too. The toroidal power transformer were also tested and approved by the original designer. All components are top drawer, no expense spared. The original chassis had a tendency to rust.
