Production Manager

Express Employment Professional of Everett is hiring a hands-on Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, high‑output manufacturing environment at company in the Everett area. This is a fulltime professional placement role offering fulltime day shift hours Monday - Friday. Annual salary is $100,000 - $130,000, depending on qualifications. This role requires strong floor presence, real-time decision-making, and direct leadership of production supervisors. The ideal candidate thrives in an active environment where communication, accountability, and operational excellence are non‑negotiable. Previous people management is a must. What You’ll Do - Lead Daily Operations -Oversee production to meet goals for safety, quality, productivity, labor efficiency, downtime, and schedule adherence. -Maintain a visible presence on the floor to monitor workflow, staffing, and equipment performance. -Provide direct coaching and accountability for production supervisors. -Address operational issues quickly and communicate clearly in real time. -Ensure supervisors uphold safety, housekeeping, and production priorities. -Track line performance, changeovers, staffing, and flow to maintain consistent output. Develop Supervisors & Teams -Mentor and develop production supervisors to strengthen leadership and department performance. -Communicate expectations and priorities through regular face‑to‑face interactions. -Follow up on assignments, corrective actions, and improvement initiatives. -Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management. -Address employee and supervisor concerns promptly and professionally. -Support corrective action and disciplinary processes. Drive Safety, Quality & Performance -Ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory requirements. -Reinforce safe work practices through active observation and coaching. -Partner with quality and maintenance to resolve process, equipment, scrap, and defect issues. -Review quality trends, downtime, rework, and scrap; drive corrective actions. -Monitor key metrics and adjust priorities as needed. -Contribute to departmental goal setting and progress updates. Plan & Coordinate -Plan staffing and workflow to meet customer demand efficiently. -Review labor needs, production requirements, and equipment capacity; recommend adjustments. -Support budgeting for labor and operating supplies. -Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth plant operations. -Assist with inventory-related activities as needed. Champion Continuous Improvement -Identify and implement improvements in efficiency, communication, quality, and workflow. -Drive gains in throughput, changeovers, uptime, and operational consistency. -Refine policies, procedures, and practices to strengthen alignment and accountability. -Promote a culture of ownership, urgency, and follow-through. Education & Experience -Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, engineering, or related field preferred. -At least five years of progressive manufacturing leadership, including direct production management. -Experience in continuous, line-based manufacturing strongly preferred. -Equivalent education/experience combinations considered. Skills & Competencies -Hands-on leadership with the ability to coach and develop supervisors. -Strong communicator with consistent floor presence and follow-through. -Ability to hold teams accountable constructively and consistently. -Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills. -Working knowledge of line performance, process control, changeovers, scrap reduction, and downtime management. -Effective verbal and written communication. -Ability to collaborate with quality, maintenance, and warehouse teams. Work Environment -Mix of office and manufacturing settings. -Frequent walking and time on the production floor required. -Must be able to observe operations, interact with employees, and respond quickly to issues.
