And it should be highly credited to him! Precisely with these popular folk songs of his beautiful hometown, the tenor by the grace of God, named Julius Patzak, is supposed to join the ranks of particularly endearing historical recordings organized under the motto Schön war die Zeit (It Was a Beautiful Time). Patzaks cradle stood, as mentioned, on the beautiful blue Danube. As a true Viennese, he was initially a conductor. Small operetta theaters, cabarets, and variety shows were his first musical field of activity. Until one day, people discovered that the handsome conductor had a voice. Without ever having had singing lessons, he went to Reichenberg for his first opera engagement. Learning came naturally to him. Fine hearing and inherent musicality led him to success overnight. As early as 1928, Julius Patzak guest starred at the Vienna State Opera. Several intermediate stops followed, and then the Munich State Opera. Every new role confirms his reputation, increases his fame. In an incredibly short time, he manages to advance into the first row of internationally known tenors. His voice possesses a peculiar lyrical sweetness; his acting qualities allow almost any task to be entrusted to him. And the circle of friends grows day by day.
