This is a sharp little travel guitar that plays great and sounds quite good for its size. “Recording King” is one of those great historic names (originally built by Gibson and sold through the Montgomery Wards catalog) that has been resurrected by a contemporary company who designs the instruments here in the U.S. and has them made under contract overseas. The finish is semi-gloss throughout. Everything Cosmetically, it’s in nice shape with a new pick guard. Everything else is original but it has received a luthier setup resulting in a low action for ease of playing. It tunes smoothly and easily and stays in tune. A front strap button has been added. The neck is straight and true, the fingerboard and all frets are basically new, resulting in an instrument that plays clear and clean anywhere on the neck. Action is low and easy to play, The outfit includes a the original branded and thickly padded soft carry bag in good condition. It has an external pouch for accessories with a two-way zipper that, alas, works only one way but is still secure. The main zipper works fine.
