NOTE: SOLD THE ROSEWOOD FG 830. THE MAPLE FG 840 IS STILL AVAIL. AND AWAITING A NEW HOME. BEAUTIFUL NEW INSTRUMENT! Up for sale are a PAIR OF YAMAHA FGS (FOLK GUITARS) DREADNOUGHTS IN MUSICIANS GEAR BRAND NEW NICE BLACK PERFECT FITTING HSCS, BOTH NEW AND UNMODIFIED AND NEARLY UNPLAYED IN ANY WAY, PERFECT IF YOU WILL. I bought these two Yamaha Acoustics a couple years ago, I believe both 2021s, at any rate, both from same year, first letter of serials both H, meaning they come from same year, sorta a matched pair. Got an FG 840 in awesome Flamed Maple and an FG 830 in Rosewood because I was growing tired of the electro-acoustic sound (and weight) and wanted a stripped-down, back to basics lightweight pure acoustic, resonate sounding guitar again and I wanted to test out the Flamed Maple (FG 840) and compare it with the Rosewood (FG 830), couldnt decide. Figured I would keep the one I loved the most and sell the other, only problem is I couldnt bring myself to part with either. They both sound different but awesome, a nice pair if you got some money. The maple body 840 is bright, loud, defined and crystalline, every note rings loud and clear. All the top end early Gibson acoustics had maple bodies for these very reasons, plus the Maple 840 is stunning to look at, always been a sucker for a large maple bodied acoustics. Just the looks of this guitar sold me quick. Both have the rosewood fingerboards and bridges, which are compensated for better intonation and full awesome ivory-colored bindings on everything (these are both higher end models in the FG line, the 840 being higher than the 830 even). The rosewood fingerboards and bridges are now nearly a thing of the past, (can you say Indian Laurel?) Both with original strings still. Both of these weigh in at a lightweight 4.5 lbs. and both with the natural light thin finish, SOLID awesome Sitka Spruce tops, and as mentioned, no stinkin pickups and batteries to fool with, just the way God intended acoustics to be! Want a nice pickup, you can put in an awesome sound-hole pickup, they got a bunch out them that sound great, look great, and are not particularly expensive and can be taken out when you dont need or want em, just sold a bunch of them in fact, good enuf for old Neil or John Prine, God rest his soul, plenty good enough for me! Cleaning house on wifes orders (See other cool stuff for sale by seller). These go for $469.99 for the FG 840 and $349.99 for the FG 830, very cheap for the fine quality, appearance and tone. The identical Musicians Gear hard cases are new with tags still on, two keys inside, never left house, same as the guitars, fit like a glove, the hard cases go for $79.00 each, basic awesome perfect fitting generic black HSCs. They have sat in my climate/humidity-controlled office, no pets, no smoke and in their cases nearly all the time, too many guitars, I guess! Add in sales tax and the FG 840 with case is damn near $600. $450 takes the 840 and hardcase home today. On this platform save expensive sales tax and shipping, which will amount to several hundo. If you want em, buy em, or they move on to larger more expensive platforms for both of us. Give it a week or two here. If youre interested in just one, we sure can do that as well, but like I say, they do make a nice pair if you got the bread and remember with quality musical instruments well taken care of, they usually do not cost you anything to own as you can usually sell them for what you paid (sometimes more). Big thing with acoustics out here in arid west is of course humidity, or lack thereof. Keep them humidified and many ways to do that and products to use that are not expensive. I even use digital hygrometers to measure humidity and those are not expensive either. Got some of those for sale as well (SOLD). There were a lot of reasons why I chose these two from the FG Series, first, I remember when the FG series first came out way back when, well over 50 years ago now, 1966 I think it was, most popular acoustic guitar line in history, changed acoustic guitar market. First really good, imported line of acoustics as I recall it. I bought a new one, an FG 180, loved it to death and played to death. They turned the acoustic guitar market upside down. They were awesome and cheap and durable and sounded in some peoples opinion, like a little brother to a Martin and only got better with age and playing. Lots of pros played em. These are no exceptions, solid Sitka Spruce tops and scalloped bracing (like Martins) but without the huge price tags. Beautiful full cream-colored binding everywhere on both, Grover-style tuners and work just as good, meaning perfect. These are in the upper FG line and as such, have the nicer appointments. I highly suggest you check out the awesome video demo/review Joshua Ray Gooch did of the entire new FG line (it was redone and updated a few years ago), just google The New Yamaha FG Series Overview with Joshua Ray Gooch. Think he either is, or was, with Sweetwater. Kind of gives you a good intro to these and how they look and sound. Of course, tons of other reviews and demos of these guitars, as much as you wanna read and watch. Very well-liked by pros and amateurs alike, great affordable instruments. I would echo what many reviewers say of these guitars, you will not find a better sounding acoustics on the market for the price, period. Both come with their original Yamaha shipping cartons if you want them. Both purchased new from Sweetwater where you can choose by appearance and weight.
