Hisashi Otsuka Royal Kiss 32 x 37 inches Print - Signed & Numbered

The Royal Kiss by Hisashi Otsuka Print (Lithograph, Sculptural Embossing, Mezzotint, & Metal-Foil Stamping) 1755/3000 - Signed and numbered by the artist 28 x 23 inches - Framed: 37 x 31.5 inches ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About Royal Kiss & Hisashi Otsuka (Taken from description pictured above) Sweeping and resplendent are the ways that beauty is expressed in the art of Hisashi Otsuka. And nowhere is it more dazzling than in his famous Neo Deco images. Here, in The Royal Kiss, beauty is the very basis of Otsukas theme and style. It captivates and guides the eye through a swirl of elegant plumage to the center of focus, the kiss itself. Observe the exciting contrasts that Otsuka has arranged: first between the size and nature of the woman and the bird; second between the color and spatial differences they present. Yet, from these dramatic distinctions, a coming together takes place. In the meeting of plumage and headdress, each becomes the other. And in the kiss, a whole new color is born, the singular red of passion and love. Acclaimed by critics around the world, Otsukas Neo Deco works have had a sensational impact on the modern print scene. In view of this brilliant image, the reason why is abundantly clear. Beauty inspired its concept. And beauty is what it creates. Otsuka, the master, continues to rise to new heights of both renown and excellence. Otsukas work is further enhanced by the skills and materials used to create his state-of-the-art, mixed-media graphics. This outstanding edition has been executed on paper made exclusively for Otsukas prints. Its fibers are 100% neutral pH rag, equal to the strictest museum standards, assuring that it will never yellow with age. Furthermore, this paper is made in double the normal thickness to optimize the absorption of colors and allow the incorporation of sophisticated embossing effects. A silk texture has been applied to the surface of every image, and a mother-of-pearl coating in the fibers recreates the iridescent quality of the fabrics upon which Otsuka paints. The printing of this edition has been accomplished with the utmost precision and superior expertise. Each impression is the exceptional result of several combined techniques: lithography, sculptural embossing, mezzotint and metal-foil stamping. Together they have created a splendid work of art, as faithful to the original painting as possible. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This piece was created in 84 & purchased in 86 at the Martin Lawrence Gallery in Santa Monica, CA.
