GREAT GRADUATION GIFTNAVAJO Yei Wall Hanging

1-Of-A-Kind Highly Unusual Pictorial Rug Wall Hanging of a Navajo Woman Praying and Entreating the Yei God by Sprinkling Corn Meal or Corn Pollen on the Ground which the Yei Deity Sees and Is Crossing Over the Sacred Mountain to Receive It. Highly Unusual Theme. Purchased new in Chinle, Arizona about 2005 and in storage since then. Handmade by Navajo rugmaker Rita Gilmore. Handspun wool and dyed. I am told by Navajo from the area the mountain most looks like San Francisco peak above Flagstaff, AZ., 1 of the 4 mountains sacred to the Navajo, and is not far from Chinle, AZ where the rug was purchased New about 2005 at high school graduation time. Almost all Yei rugs portray an inline dance ritual. This unusual rug portrays a personal relation to a Yei in a clearly religious, spiritual ritual. I myself in 40 years have never seen a scene of similar personal involvement and meaning. Rug has been in storage all these years and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise, and a photo of the weaver, Rita Gilmore. Rug is, of course, all wool, handwoven, with natural vegetal dyes and radiant colors. No shipping. Sale upon satisfactory inspection. Payment in cash only; exchange to be made at safe location such as public library. May phone me at: 412-916-7268. Thank you for your interest.
