Youve heard the radio adsagain and again and againsaying the exact same thing, that a Soundbar, or a box plug and play system, with a TV which is assumed to be placed in a Living Room, is a Home Theater System. Actually, no, it isnt. This is a Surround Sound system, and can be quite fun and enjoyable, but this is far from a true Home Theater system and is frankly an insult to those who have built dedicated Home Theater rooms. A dedicated room is the key factor because of the necessary accoutrements needed to laser focus on just 1 word. Just 1 word is the benchmark to be awarded the title of Home Theater. 1 word. That word is Accuracy. The movie producers created a visual experience and soundtrack to their movie. The reproduction of this, to as close to, or spot on to, the original is the goal. Accuracy to the original master, as intended by the movie producers, is the holy grail, of Home Theater systems. Not an easy word either and sadly not even half considered by so many in this field. They will throw a projector up, hang a screen, put some speakers around the room, and call it good. They get away with it, every single day, because most consumers dont know. This is said with all due respect to consumers. How could they know? Their expertise and training is not in Home Theaters, it is in Medicine, Legal, Real Estate or any other chosen profession. They are looking to us for answers and hoping we know what WE are doing. Well, I do because I study it, and I am formally trained. This isnt my job, this is my passion, and as a purist, this is a relentless pursuit of...1 word: Accuracy. Is the Picture accurate. Is the Audio accurate. What is the term ALCONS. Why do you never, ever, adjust Keyst 1. What is Frequency cancellation. What are Lamberts. How many Lumens? How much Power? What size and where do the Speakers go? And on and on and on. No worries however as we know every single detail. When the sound leaves the speaker, when the light leaves the projector, the room environment is now 60 of the end result. No small number. This means if you spend your m 1 y on equipment, and hire an installer, and do not factor this important fact in, you will be sorely disappointed. You needed a Technician.
