Marantz model 7T Solid-State Preamplifier – For the audiophile world the 7T represented the peak of beauty, fidelity, clarity, logic and simplicity. With its beautiful, logically laid out controls and silver faceplate and a single power switch and operation light it is remains among the most memorable of preamps with its warmth of sound and ease and options of control. These have gotten very rare. One in this condition is nearly a unicorn. If you’ve seen the inside of a 7T unit you have seen how clean and direct the point-to-point wiring is and how much care went into handwiring a vintage state-of-the art preamp chassis. It’s not a packed chassis, there is only what’s needed, nothing more, nothing less. This particular unit is an amazing example. Very well kept. The interior is as clean and the exterior. The walnut wood case is also in excellent condition except for a few chips of veneer on the left top – see detailed photos. The rear panel has numerous options for ins and outs as well as 6 outlets – one switched and 5 un-switched and an level control potentiometer. Other outs include Tape, Mic, Phonos 1+2, Tuner, TV, and Aux 1+2 for a total of 8 outputs with the corresponding selector on the front panel. It even has scope test output, high/low output selector switch, two tape output controls, and separate amplifier outs A and B, and a center channel output RCA’s! Talk about forward thinking.
