FOR SALE 2000 Indian Chief Millennium Edition. Bike #205 of only 250 produced. With less than 5,000 original miles, this motorcycle is in investment quality condition, available to the discerning buyer who wants a bike that is unique and truly stands out in the cruiserweight class of American V-twins. Indian was Americas 1st motorcycle, with history dating back to 1901, skirted fenders, teardrop headlamp, authentic vintage styling and that classic war bonnet fender lamp makes Indian the only instantly recognizable motorcycle on any boulevard in the nation. Interesting note, this 2000 Indian Chief Millennium Edition came with a hefty price tag, when new, of just over $29,000 which instantly put it in an exclusive category making it unattainable for your average buyer. However, that staggering cost included more factory chrome adornment, trim and ornamentation than any other American made bike, where you generally have to pay extra for all those upgrades making this a rare and exceptional bike right out of the gate. This may sound like a bold statement but, barring someone who might have bought one new and put it away in a glass box, I would venture to say that this is probably the nicest, original Millennium Edition Chief in the entire country. Im happy to park it along side any other one and let you compare. There is no Mystery History, no multi state registrations, no insurance claims, the bike has belonged to the original buyer and then to me. It is currently registered, tagged, insured and titled (clean) in my name. So, if you are looking for a very high quality American motorcycle with a limited run, and in exceptional condition then please read on. This Indian was built at the Gilroy, California assembly plant, sold new in Moreno Valley, California (an hour east of L.A.) to my good friend and has spent its entire life here in sunny Palm Springs, California located in the sub-tropical Sonoran Desert where rust and corrosion are virtually non-existent. It has been garaged every single night since new. Never down, never abused or mis-treated. The bike still retains its original, Millennium Edition only, two-tone metallic Charcoal over Silver paint in outstanding condition and painstakingly hand waxed regularly. Original timber wolf gray leather on solo seat, pillion seat, back rest and saddle bags are all in perfect condition. All fringe is soft, flexible, hangs straight and not one strand is missing. All plated chrome work shows like new, factory chrome spoked wheels are clean and sparkle like they should. Aluminum billet work shines and is corrosion free. Engine, frame and suspension bolts show no rust or corrosion at all. Engine jug fins look like new. Bike is as clean underneath as it is on top. This Gilroy era Indian is powered by its original, American made S&S Super Stock 88 cubic inch engine, with bullet-proof reliability and proven performance from Americas premier custom engine builders since 1958. S&S Super E carb, 5 speed transmission, and factory 2 into one Indian exhaust for a good, throaty rumble. Headlight hi/low, driving lamps, war bonnet fender lamp, turn signals, high visibility signal flash safety brake light, running lights, dash illumination, horn and 5 lamp indicator cluster all function as designed. Includes billet mounted Wind-Vest brand windshield. Recent work includes 2 brand new Dunlop American Elite MT90/16 tires installed, new EBC brake pads front and rear, rebuilt Thunderheart calipers, fresh engine oil and transmission oil change, two new fully adjustable shock absorbers, new spark plugs, new Thunderheart ignition module, carb completely overhauled, new Golan ball bearing petcock, new fuel filter and fuel hose, new air filter, new battery, new handlebar dampener bushings. Anything it needs, it gets. And no worries about having the only Indian on your block. Service work can be performed at any competent repair facility with no proprietorship enigmas. Service and wear parts are readily available. The Gilroy era of Indian motorcycles have garnered a large following with well informed owners, easily accessible information and groups readily available on line in almost any area. The relaxed ergonomics of the beach bars coupled with an easy seat height, running boards rather than pegs and adjustable suspension make the Chief a comfortable ride whether youre 56 or 6 5. Chrome crash bar doubles as highway foot rests. This era Indian also has 4 degrees more rake (36 degrees as opposed to 32 degrees) and a slightly longer wheel base than Harley Davidson offered, making for a much smoother ride, for hours, without fatigue. The bike is Southern California clean. Squeak and rattle free, road ready now and I would not hesitate to ride it from here to Miami tomorrow. The term head turner is very much over-used but every time I ride this bike down Palm Canyon Drive here in town, someone at a stop light will comment on it, give it a thumbs up, ask what year it is (they always think its a decades older vintage) and when I park it at the curb people will always pass by the other bikes, walk over and snap a couple pictures of this one. Ive owned many Harley Davidsons over the years and they make a great bike but there are thousands of them for sale every day across the country and none of them ever got the attention this Indian does. The bike looks great fully dressed with the windshield, leather saddle bags, rear seat and back rest all installed or equally fine fully stripped down to just the solo seat. Frame is serial numbered and tagged as an Indian Motorcycle so insurance costs are as realistic as any other factory made bike, where many off brand or lesser known American V-twins made are registered as Custom Build which can drive their insurance premium costs into the stratosphere. So again, if youre looking for a truly unique bike that is strong, very reliable and has been meticulously cared for, please consider this Indian Chief and stand apart from the crowd. No excuses, no disappointments. The bike is available to view just about any time in Palm Springs, California, which is approximately 1.5 hours east of Los Angeles, 2 hours northeast of San Diego, 4 hours southwest of Las Vegas. Fly in, ride it home. I am happy to work with out of country buyers as well. Price is $12,500 which includes a complete service manual and a complete parts manual both in CD format and four helmets in nice condition. One Black THH brand DOT approved sized XXL, one Black Voss brand sized XL, one Black Voss brand sized XS and one Black unbranded sized Medium. Call, Text or e-mail.
