Brand New Bell double shell mountain biking helmet, which means it has 2 inner shells that slide independently of each other, one is EPS, and one is EPP (memory), the inner shell is the more memory head contact layer, and the outer eps shell is what absorbs external impact energy by deforming and cracking. So whats the point? Until now it has been difficult to build a lightweight helmet certified for bike life saving, yet still reduce concussion severity, even with MIPS. These dual shell helmets (separate EPS and EPP layers) offer superior concussion protection compared to traditional singles shell, including MIPS helmets. This is MIPS with an extra pillow. One other thing that is super important here in the desert, ventilation. This is THE BEST ventilation found in a dual shell mountain bike helmet, it is best when the visor is not in the full down position also. Speaking of which, this visor is actually useful, and has shielded many sunsets for me. I would call this an Enduro FF helmet, the chin guard is 1000% better than no chin guard, and it does not impede airflow, but the chin guard does not offer the same impact protection of a heavier true DH rated helmet.
